The Possible Role of New Cardiac Biomarkers in Assessment of the Cardiotoxicity of Cannabis and / or Tramadol in Adult Male Rats

Absolute heart weight was increased in groups which administrated (5mg/ kg and 10mg/kg) cannabis resin extract. Increase in relative heart weight was noticed in groups which received (10mg/ kg and 20mg/kg) cannabis resin extract when compared with control group. Administration of 5mg / kg cannabis resin extract resulted in altered lipid profile represented in decreased serum cholesterol, serum triglycerides and HDL levels, and increase LDL level. 10, 20 mg/ kg cannabis resin extract did not affect serum cholesterol or triglycerides levels, meanwhile, they decrease HDL, and increase in LDL level compared with control group. Moreover, different doses of cannabis resin extract decreased reduced GSH, and increased TBARS and NO. AST, HFABP3 and MLC3 were increased significantly when compared with control group. Finally, myocardium showed degeneration with focal areas of zenkers necrosis and congestion in the blood vessels with intracellular vacuolization.
