Solar-Driven Photocatalysis Technology for Wastewater Treatment and Energy Generation
Photocatalysis , Wastewater Treatment , magnetic particles
Water resources in Egypt are exposed to pollution from different sources. The industrial wastewater comes on the top of these sources because it contains a variety of chemicals, especially non-biodegradable organic pollutants. This type of pollutants cannot be treated by conventional methods of wastewater treatment. Therefore, using advanced treatment technologies (ATTs) with innovative materials became an urgent necessity in Egypt. Among the various ATTs, heterogeneous photocatalysis using solar light is a promising technology for wastewater treatment, not only because of its high efficiency but also because of its ability to generate renewable energy as well. The energy can be produced by the photo-conversion of carbon dioxide into various fuels such as methanol
