Achieving Performance and Comfort Properties of Fabrics for Fencing Suites
Sport’s textiles are considered one of the most important tech-textiles due to its direct influence on the performance rate and comfort of athletes and improving the sense of comfort. Nowadays fencing sport is gaining popularity in Egypt due to the silver medal award in London Olympics 2012. Fencing suite protect the player from violent moves of the opponent's sword according to the report of the International Federation of Fencing suit 800 Newton is the bar minimum of sword penetration resistance for international and Olympic tournaments and 350 Newton for the training and national competitions. General requirements of fencing suits: 1. Allow freedom of movement 2. Achieve comfort properties The aim of this thesis is to study the possibility of locally manufactured fencing suit fabrics which fulfills the International Federation of Fencing requirements in order to compete with the imported product which would contributes the popularity of the sport due to the affordability of its tools and accessories. In order to reach the goals of the study 40 samples were produced by using:- • Four types of weft yarns (Polyester microfiber, Polyester Rinova, Polyester Trilobal and Polyester high tenacity) • One type of warp yarn (150/1 denier Polyester microfiber) • Double cloth structure (two different back structures and six face structures)
