conflicting findings have been reported about dairy food consumption and risk for atherosclerosis disease. on the other hand, some studies have revealed that high consumption of milk and dairy products may have protective effects against atherosclerosis. so, the aim ofthe present study is to examine whether consumption of milk and other dairy products such as yoghurt either from cow or buffalo has an impact on blood lipids and hence is a risk factor for atherosclerosis. Fifty four adult male Albino rats at body weight ranging from 120 to 130 g were divided into nine groups (6 rats in each). The first group fed on the standard diet and served as Basal diet, groups (2 & 3) fed on experimental diet with (15 e. 30 %) powdered buffalo milk, groups (4 & 5) fed on experimental diet with (15 & 30 %) powdered cow milk, groups (6 & 7) fed on experimental diet with (15 & 30 w powdered buffalo yoghurr and groups (g & 9) fed on experimental diet wifh (15 &r 30 zo) powdered cow yoghurt powderrespectively, for 8 weeks. Biological evaluation was carried out by determination of body weight gain, feed intake and feed efficiency ratio. At the end of the experimental period, blood samples were collected from the orbital vein to determine Iipids profile, activity of plasma catalase and concentration of plasma malondialdhyde (MDA), also to determine eachofkidneyandliverfunctionsofexperimentalrats.Theobtainedresults showednon.significanteffectsforallparameterswhichmentionedabove for all groups compared to control negative group' Also' histopathological examination of aorta showed no changes for all groups fedoneitherbuffaloorcowmilkorbuffaloorcowyoghurtcomparedto thenegativecontrolgroup'lnconclusion'ourstudyrevealedthathigh consumption of milk and dairy products does not have any impact on the atherosclerosis biomarkers' Moreover' the cow milk may reduce the bloodcholesterolhence'improvethemarkersofatherosclerosisandin furnmaybegoodforhearthealth.Inoonclusion, ourstudyshowedthat high consumption of milk and yoglrurt does not exert any adverse effect on cardiovascular health' In turn' it may be safely consumed' The daily recommended intake of whole liquid milk is up to four oups'
