Design and Production of Textile Meshes for Heart Muscle Reinforcement (An Application Study on Animal)

Medical textile products are finding innovative applications which were not imaginable just a few years ago. Textile meshes are one of the most innovative advanced textiles used for supporting, controlling and treatment of dilated cardiomyopathy. Firstly, yarn type, properties and shape were investigated for its stretching ability; laboratory tests were carried out for three types of yarns (DTY- intermingled-DTY microfiber). Nylon and polyester were found to be the most suitable materials that can be used, so two different yarn counts for nylon material and one count for polyester material were addressed to the study through primary research and trials. The results showed that the 70/36 DTY Polyester yarn gave more stretching properties than the 70/144. Laboratory tests were done for yarn according to ASTM standard methods including (yarn diameter- yarn count- yarn tensile strength and elongation- hairness- evenness).
