Formulation and Evaluation of Nano carriers for Ocular Delivery of a Certain Antibiotic
OcularDelivery / Lomefloxacin HCl / conjunctivitis
Bacterial infections of the eye are important among the clinical conditions responsible for ocular morbidity and blindness. Conjunctivitis, for example, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the membrane of the inner eyelid and the inner corner of the eye's surface. Other possible locations of inflammation include the eyelid (blepharitis), the cornea (keratitis), the liquid inside the eye (vitritis), the retina and the blood vessels that feed it (chorioretinitis), or the optic nerve (neuroretinitis). Bacterial conjunctivitis is primary due to Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Haemophilus influenzae.Standard antibiotic treatment often will work for ordinary bacterial infections related to staphylococcus (staph) or streptococcus (strep) infections, which are the usual causes of bacterial conjunctivitis in adults.
