The Development of New Anticancer Agents,
Which inhibit the Ubiquitin-Proteasome system
from Marine Organisms
marine organisms, Stylissa carteri, ubiquitin-proteasome system, Mdm2, Ubc13-Uve1
The ubiquitin-proteasome system is a major pathway for selective degradation of most of the proteins in eukaryotic cells. Since an altered function of ubiquitin-proteasome pathway has been observed in most cancer cells, it was an attractive approach to search for modifiers of this pathway as anti-cancer drugs. The goals of this study are discovery and evaluation of new entities from natural sources (marine organisms) for the treatment of cancer through targeting the components of ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.
