Diabetes, DPP-4 inhibitors, flavonoids, oxidative stress and inflammation, lieidperoxide
Type-II-diabetes mellitus (TIIDM) is a complex metabolic disorder characterized by abnormalities in insulin secretion and/or insulin action that lead to progressive deterioration of glucose tolerance and cause hyperglycemia. Pathogenesis of this disease involves abnormalities not only in glucose metabolism but also in lipid metabolism. The pro-inflammatory cytokines and lipid peroxidation are stimulated by the inadequate insulin secretion, insulin resistance and high glucose and lipid levels which contribute to beta-cell degradation, especially through the apoptotic pathways.
