Diabetes is one of the commonest chronic diseases worldwide, and is responsible for multi-organ affection as complications. Never the less type 1 diabetes (T1D) is one of the commonest chronic endocrinal diseases in children and adolescents. Vitamin D is one of the fat soluble vitamins that is obtained mainly by the skin from the ultraviolet rays, however its deficiency showed to be increasing, despite its importance, not only in bone anabolism but also have a potential role in autoimmune diseases among which in type 1 diabetes. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of oral vitamin D (VD) supplementation on blood glucose (HbA1C) in T1D patients and to find out the role of VD as a biomarker for follow of T1D patients compared to HbA1C.
