Biodiesel production is considered one of the global issues. The global energy demand is projected to increase by 49 percent in the next 25 years according to the Energy Information Administration (2012). Global oil consumption is expected to grow from 86 million bbl/d in 2007 to 104 million bbl/d in 2030. Actually domestic oil consumption increased from 540,000 bbl/d in 2003 to 757,000 bbl/d in 2013. This rapid growth of oil consumption encourages research about biodiesel production. In recent years, algal biodiesel has attracted much attention and investments. The major importance of algae is that they have shorter period of doubling their biomass than other oil crops. Besides, they are continuous crops and they do not need arable land especially for photobioreactor cultivation. Also, algae have sufficient oil content and do not compete with food production.
