Study of the effect of Achillea fragrantissima extracts
in hyperlipidemic and hyperglycaemic rats.

Current study was mainly constructed on the idea of simulating two metabolic diseases simultaneously in order to shed the light on the effect of the union of these metabolic diseases on different body organs and functions. The metabolic diseases were type 2 diabetes (T2DM) associated with hyperlipidemia. Induction of metabolic syndrome condition was performed by feeding the rats high fat diet (20% w/w animal lard mixed with normal chow) along with oral injection of cholesterol (30 mg/kg body weight) for twelve consecutive weeks followed by low dose of streptozotocin STZ (40 mg/kg body weight) .
