preparation of nano-sized transtion metal oxide catalysts by combustion method
Combustion, urea, glycine, oxides, spinels
This work has been carried out for preparation of nano-sized transition metal oxide catalysts by economic combustion method in a single step employing urea and glycine as fuels and transition metal nitrates as oxidizers to form single and mixed metal oxides. The effect of fuel type, fuel to oxidizer ratio and temperature on the purity, morphology, size, surface area and catalytic properties of the prepared powders was studied. The process is successful in preparing nano oxides. Thermogravimetric and infrared spectral analyses were used to determine thermal behavior of the starting materials. X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and Nitrogen adsorption/desorption measurements (BET) were used to characterize the prepared catalysts. The follow up of the transesterification products was done by GCM.
