The following points are presented in the thesis:-  Preparation and characterization of UF polyethersulfone / Polyacrylonitrile blend membrane as well studied the impact of hydrophilic polymer addition to hydrophobic polymer in order to improve their hydrophilic characteristics.  Preparation of polyamide thin film composite membranes on the PES/PAN UF membranes as support layer with 1.5% wt. PAN polymer as well optimizing preparation conditions for the polyamide layer through interfacial polymerization.  Preparation of thin film nanocomposite membranes on the prepared UF membranes with 2% wt. PAN polymer as support layer containing hydrophilic inorganic particles (zeolite A) and hydrophobic hybrid material(binary and ternary) metal complex.  Studying the antifouling properties of polyethersulfone using CeO2/ Ce7O12 nanoparticles.  Performance evaluation of all the fabricated membranes in water treatment
