Bacterial Reduction after using different Irrigation protocols in Healthy and Diabetic patients with Apical Periodontitis

The purpose of this investigation was to estimate bacterial reduction after using different irrigation protocols in healthy and diabetic patients with apical periodontitis. Forty patients(20 healthy and other 20 diabetic) participated in this study. They were selected from those admitting for endodontic treatment at endodontic department, Faculty of dentistry, Ain shams university as well as at Diabetes institute dental clinic. Group A Include twenty healthy patients with no history of any systemic disease with necroric pulp with chronic apical periodontitis. While Group B Include twenty controlled diabetic type two patients with necroric pulp with chronic apical periodontitis.Preoperative and post-operative samples were collected from each case for estimating the bacterial reduction for Fusobacterium Nucleatum, Peptostreptococcus Micros, Entrococcus Fecalis, before and after treatment by quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction. Root canal preparation was performed with the one shape single file system and irrigation was performed either with conventional side vented syringe or Endo vac device.
