Mass Production of purified pigments from some algae species
Chlorella vulgaris, Spirulina platensis,Na-Cu-Chlorophyllin, β-carotene Phycocyanin
Three algal species Chlorella vulgaris Beyerinck, Spirulina platensis (Gomont) Geitler and Nannochloropsis oculata (Droop) D. J. Hibberd, were subjected with indoor and outdoor cultivation. The growth of the investigated species was measured according to dry weight, chlorophyll and carotene pigment contents. Spirulina platensis exhibited maximum dry weight of about 1.44 g.l-1 during indoor cultivation in comparing with those of other investigated species. While Chlorella vulgaris attained maximum content of chlorophyll and carotene of 18.2 mg.l-1 and 12.69 mg.l-1 respectively. On the other hand, outdoor cultivation of Chlorella vulgaris revealed relatively high growth parameters of dry weight of 3.26 g.l-1, chlorophyll of 31.35 mg.l-1 and carotene of 32.87 mg.l-1, in comparing with that of other investigated species.
