Biological Assessment of Three Experimental Toothpaste Additives
Streptococcus / probiotic / Miswak / probiotic strain
The aim of this study is to determine, the effect of a probiotic strain, propolis extract and Miswak extract in experimental toothpaste on profile growth of Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) as well as that of mixtures of the previous compounds, and the survival profile of the probiotic strain in those mixtures. Also, to determine the cytotoxicity of the best effective combinations of the previous mixtures and to evaluate in vivo, the effect of the previously best effective mixture that was found to be safe on the salivary S. mutans count in high caries risk patients
