Approaches towards rapid protective response to influenza virus infection using vector based technologies
Approaches towards rapid protective response to influenza virus infection using vector based technologies
The main objectives of the thesis are to: 1. Characterize and determine the efficacy of commercial AI H5 vaccines in Egypt. 2. Develop suitable AI H5N1 vaccine seed strains using plasmid-based reverse genetics and evaluate their efficacy in the Egyptian field. 3. Determine factors affecting inactivated AI vaccine production. 4. Improve AI H5N1 vaccine seed strain using genes of H9N2 virus to enhance the growth rate and provide broader protection against H5N1 and H9N2 viruses. 5. Generate AI virus like particles using baculovirus expression system. 6. Develop a multivalent DNA vaccine for influenza HA subtypes 5, 7 and 9 as a rapid response to influenza virus infection.
