Preparation, characterization and some properties of gypsum plaster / calcium phosphate composites as a bone cement
composition / hydroxyapatite / composition
In the present work nano-sized hydroxyapatite powder has been synthesized from freshly prepared calcium hydroxide and phosphoric acid solution by precipitation method. Distilled water was used as a diluting media and ammonia to adjust the media at different pHs; 10, 10.3 10.7 and11. The temperature of the mixture was kept constant at 70±2 °C. After the addition of the two solutions precipitation of hydroxyapatite (HAp) was occurred. The solution was filtered, washed and dried overnight. The dried powders were characterized for phase composition using X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (IR) and Transmission electron microscope (TEM). The dried powder was pressed and sintered at temperatures between 1000° and 1250 °C.
