Therapeutic impact of Grape (Vitis vinifera) leaves
Polyphenols on neurological biomarkers of
Alzheimer's dementia in aged rats
aluminium, Alzheimer's dementia , AD-rats, T-maze, amyloid-B,VLP
This study aimed to declare the relationship between aluminium metal neurotoxicity and AD, as well as, to define blood-based biomarkers for early diagnosis, to understand the interrelations between different pathogenic mechanisms leading to AD onset and development, and finally to develop a novel therapeutic approach (intervention), based on natural aspect, as an alternative for chemical drugs. The main goal of this work is to investigate the possible AlCl3-induced biochemical changes in the blood and brain of male aged rats, reflecting disrupted lipid pathways, neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration, endothelial dysfunction (vascular injury), oxidative stress, microglial activation, and amyloid pathways. This work aimed to provide reliable, simple, less invasive, reproducible, ante-mortem, and diagnostic bloodbased biomarkers. This promising panel of blood-based biomarkers would be potential for AD diagnosis, risk, progression, or treatment effects, and would be of great importance for early differentiation between benign Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and early AD stages, enabling early effective treatment to halt or limit disease progression.
